Overview:

NET-TV, New York’s Catholic Station is looking for an experienced news video editor to join our Currents News team. The lead editor will be in charge of all video that appears in the nightly newscast. In this role you will report to the Chief Production Manager and assist in perfecting a workflow for the station’s nightly newscast. You will use your creative skills to edit packages and vos, using existing templates to make graphics and create new templates as needed. The lead video editor will be in charge of special projects pieces, many of which are submitted for journalism awards. On these pieces you will be required to spend extra time creating pro-production elements and color correction to create videos of the highest quality. You will use and teach video/editing standards for the department that producers and reporters use when editing their own videos. Candidates for this position must be detail-oriented, have the ability to multitask, and react to multiple changes to the rundown throughout the day in a calm and timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and accurately edit vos, vo/sots, and packages that meet television standards
  • Add lower thirds (supers) to videos
  • Download and convert agency video
  • Color correct video and adjust audio
  • Approve all video for air
  • Export finished and approved video to video playback system (Nexio)
  • Edit recorded segments and assemble to create final newscast
  • Post newscasts to social media
  • Edit topical promos
  • Research and identify file video needed for vo’s and packages

Background and Experience:

  • 3-5+ years working in a television newsroom as an editor
  • Degree in journalism or communications or relevant studies
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Strong and proven ability to multi-task and to work under deadlines
  • Proficient in non-linear editing on Adobe Creative Suite which includes Premiere and After Effects
