Position: Manager of Digital Content Production (News Group)

Overview:

DeSales Media Group, the media and technology non-profit Catholic ministry based in Brooklyn is looking for a seasoned and creative manager to lead our established and award-winning digital news operation. This candidate will have a solid editorial and technical background and the ability to easily work across platforms under daily deadlines. They will be the bridge between the group’s two newspapers and nightly newscast by transforming and promoting this content for our digital audience. This manager will update two websites with topical and late-breaking news, create, shoot and edit short-form video and written content exclusively for our digital platforms including social media. They will remain up to date on the changing trends of the digital world, seeking new ways to reach audiences. They must have solid news judgment and be able to find the common thread that runs through secular and religious news and present it in a compelling way that informs, inspires, and moves people to action. Responsibilities:

· Manage and update two news websites and social media accounts

· Transition from print, broadcast, and social writing styles, consistently transitioning between two news brand platforms.

· Utilize Facebook’s Business Manager

· Manage all content on YouTube page

· Conceive and produce short-form video content and optimize it for maximum reach

· Assemble and supervise production of a daily email newsletter

· Go to video shoots, as needed

· Work with Sales Director to inset digital ads in newsletter

· Edit content on Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop and After Effects

· Consistently identify opportunities to cross-promote content on various platforms

· Stream live events on social media

· Collaborate with Senior Manager of News Operations and other editors to outline daily digital strategy

· Compile monthly website traffic and social engagement reports

· Manage and mentor at least one direct report

Background/Experience/Skills:

· 3-6 years of experience in digital production and news

· Degree in journalism, communications or relevant studies

· Understanding of social brand management and how to navigate the ever-changing algorithms, especially of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

· Experience with keyword search, writing and copyediting for click-thru and SEO.

· Mastery of WordPress.

· Knowledge of HubSpot or similar CRM

· Proficient in social media management tools/dashboards

· Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills

· Strong and proven ability to multi-task and to work under deadlines

· Excellent news judgment and story-telling skills

· Knowledge of the Catholic Church, teachings, and traditions is a plus
